Saving Private Ryan coming to Blu-Ray May 4th 2010
One of the greatest war movies of all time, Saving Private Ryan, is finally coming to Blu-Ray on May 4th, 2010. It’s been a few years since I saw the movie just because it’s a tough one to watch. Even though it’s not entirely factual and only based on numerous people, it’s still a rough one to sit through. I still prefer Band of Brothers to this, but I’d imagine this will look amazing on Blu-Ray. “Earn This!” Read the press release after the jump:

Conan O’Brien officially leaving NBC
The funniest late night talk show host, Conan O’Brien, is officially leaving NBC after 2 weeks of settlement talks. Everyone should know all the news by now so no point in recapping it for you. The talks were signed this morning, and Conan’s last show will be Friday night when he has Will Ferrell and Tom Hanks on his show. The two actors were the first guest on Conan’s short-lived Tonight Show which only started back in June. The unfunny Jay Leno will return to the Tonight Show March 1st.

The Pacific premieres March 14th, 2010 on HBO
The anticipated follow-up to Band of Brothers, The Pacific, will premiere on March 14th 2010 on HBO. The series is long in the making but I think the final result will be worth it. The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg produced mini-series will be 10 episodes, just like Band of Brothers. This time it will focus on the Pacific side of the War, mainly focusing on 3 main characters.

Featurette: The Pacific
In honor of Veterans Day today, I can’t find a more fitting video to post than that of the new HBO mini-series The Pacific. The on set featurette has some quick interviews with creators Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and others. You also get some quick glimpse of the series being filmed. All I know is I can’t wait to see this! The Pacific premieres March 2010 on HBO. Watch the video below:

Trailer: Toy Story 3
The new Toy Story 3 is coming out June 18th 2009! For some reason, I still thought we had another year of waiting for it. The whole gang is back for more (well except the late Jim Varney) and it certainly looks like this movie could be just as good as the first two. Jim Varney’s friend Blake Clark (who sounds like him and is the guy I thought would be perfect for this role) is doing the voice of Slinky Dog. I think the storyline is very realistic in that all kids grow up sometime and where do all the toys go. After all, how can Andy get some in college when he still plays with all his toys? Angels & Demons to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray November 24th
Video Business is reporting that the worldwide box office smash is set to be released here in the U.S. just in time for the holiday shopping season on November 24th. While not a huge success due to being critically panned, the film has gone on to gross nearly $500 million worldwide, and expects to bring in just as much due to DVD and Blu Ray revenue sales. Aint It Cool News and PacificFans.com posted the new full trailer from Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg HBO mini-series the Pacific. Guess this aired during True Blood? The same people that brought you Band of Brothers are showing you the Pacific side to WWII. CAN’T WAIT! I thought the mini-series would be coming out this fall but apparently it’s now looking at a 2010 premiere date. Well that sucks but at least they’re getting the series right and not rushing it.

Video: SNL – Celebrity Jeopardy (Kathie Lee Gifford, Tom Hanks, Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds)
Will Ferrell hosted Saturday Night Live again last night. It was the show’s season finale and they did Celebrity Jeopardy! The jeopardy skits have been my favorite skits over the last 10 years. This time we got some nice surprises as Tom Hanks (playing himself!) participated in this hilarious skit. Plus you get to see the usual antics of Sean Connery and Burt Reynolds. Dan Brown set to release new “Da Vinci Code” follow up “The Lost Symbol”
Well it’s about time! Dan Brown is set to release his follow up to the smash hit novel, “The Da Vinci Code,” on September 15, 2009 with Double Day/Random House creating a first run of 5 million copies. As expected, the first sequel to the “The Da Vinci Code,” has been long anticipated since the last novel was released due to it’s controversial nature and compelling story lines.
Tom Hanks playing Major Matt Mason?
Variety reports that Tom Hanks & Playtone will develop a live-action movie based on the popular vintage toy “Matt Mason” from Mattel. Isn’t Tom sick of playing toys yet? Is he going to sign up for Stretch Armstrong next? Anyway, Graham Yost is set to write the script for Universal, who’s releasing the film. I can never turn down a Tom Hanks movie, so I’ll be sure to see this one when its released.
