Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Ever since I saw the English Beat & Bad Manners tour two Februarys ago, I wanted to see that show again. Well that’s been answered by Dave Wakeling, Buster Bloodvessel and others! Chris Murray will be joining the 2 bands on the later half of the tour. Last time I saw Chris Murray was in ’96 at my very first ska show! The English Beat will play Mexicali Live Cafe in Teaneack, NJ on August 17th and Webster Hall in NYC on August 21st.

2 Tone ska legends THE ENGLISH BEAT, headed up by the ever-affable Dave Wakeling, continue to bring their feel-good ska vibes across the U.S. and this time, they’re hitting the road with fellow 2 Tone legends BAD MANNERS, best known for both their singles “My Girl Lollipop” and “Lip Up Fatty” as well as being notorious for their crazy antics which got them banned from Top of the Pops and Italian TV. English Beat have two quick East Coast dates (this Friday, July 9th in Amagansett, NY and Saturday, July 10th in Niagara Falls) before flying back to the West Coast to kick off their Summer Tour, which includes a slew of previously announced dates with UK pop rock legends SQUEEZE (dates below).

Hailing from Birmingham England, The English Beat is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the release of their 1980 debut album I Just Can’t Stop It, which spawned the hits”Tears of a Clown”, “Mirror In the Bathroom”, “Best Friend”, “Twist & Crawl”, and “Too Nice to Talk To”. As a major part of the 2 Tone ska music revolution of the late 70s and early 80s, alongside their stablemates The Specials, Madness, and The Selector, the musical juggernaut that is Dave Wakeling hasn’t lost any momentum in songwriting. His brand of “Punky Reggae Party” (which includes other hits as “Save It For Later”, “I Confess” and “Can’t Get Used to Losing You”), the English Beat’s hybrid was a delightful blend of Toots and the Maytals, the Velvet Underground, Buzzcocks, The Four Tops and Van Morrison. They have toured internationally with The Clash, Talking Heads, The Police, and REM among many others and has had prime soundtrack placement in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Grosse Pointe Blank. New songs such as “The Love You Give Lasts Forever”, “How Can You Stand There” and “Said We Would Never Die” are quickly becoming fan favorites and will soon be released in 2010. “I have plans to record this year,” Dave explains. “Some great new demos done, and now I’m just figuring out how to put the recording and touring schedule together. Expect releases to begin before the end of 2010!”
