Wow, this gave me a suckgasm. You know, the polar opposite of an orgasm. This is so bad, I think my testes imploded.
Probably named after the children’s fantasy book from the 60s, these guys play a pitiful, cringe-inducing, and uncomfortable blend of prog and hipsterish lo-fi indie. To further cheesify their sound, they add strings, keys, and synths. But the worst is the male vocals – he’s got an operatic approach, which is painful enough, but his voice is also off-key and warbling. The female vox are wispy and ethereal but only slightly less dopey.
The band sounds like creepy, bearded D&D dorks trying to be ironically hip and failing miserably. They need to find the +4 Staff of Songwriting.
