These guys really cover the worst genres of music, making it their own absolutely terrible sound. Some tunes have emo, post-punk, dance-punk, faux-metal, Weezer fuzzy nerd-rock, 60s Brit jangle pop, you name it. They sound like they want to be off-kilter and broadly zany, but it’s all so very, very bad. It doesn’t help that they add a lot of violin and piano, as if they were scared they weren’t cheesy enough.

This is one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard and I own Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music. Sadly, I have to rate them above the minimum because they’re not completely inept at their instruments, and their shittiness appears to be by choice, as if part of some ironic art experiment. Winkingly bad or not, Poison Control Center should listen to the Starlight Mints and learn the right way to make off-kilter garagey pop.

Bottom Line: More like A Collage of Excretions.
