I wonder if their name was originally The Sharpees and they got sued by the marker company. Damn corporations and their trademarks. The Sharp Ease should trademark “hot,” cuz they’re four hot girls. Well, they’re each about 50% hot, so altogether, they’re two hot girls. This being their debut and self-released, they probably haven’t gotten stylists yet, but they certainly have potential of becoming at least 70% hot, which would mean, umm, 7/10th of 4 is… Well, if they had 6 more girls in the band, at least 7 would be hot. Anyway, let’s move on.
It’s 40% cute 80s girl band, 15% part 90s alternative girl band, 45% pop punky, all with a 00’s garagey jaggedness. So they’re not really “going modern”, but they do have a very fun sound. They’ll remind you of bands that you can’t put your finger on. Closest I can come is a steamy lesbian orgy with the Breeders, Elastica, The Eyeliners, Lo-Hi, the B-52s, and a good version of the Donnas. The Sharp Ease is 110% awesome.
