The Solipsistics were a quirky pop band that released a bunch of stuff in the 90s. At least, that’s what they tell me – I never heard of these guys.
This is a compilation of “hits”, mixes, and previously unreleased stuff. It’s a full 19-track collection that varies in styles and quality. They run the gamut of quirk-pop, casio pop, piano ballads, and stuff that sounds like clones of REM, the Eels, and the Beatles.
While not bad, none of it is terribly memorable. I barely tapped my toe on many of the songs. And if you’re not toe-tapping to pop music, has it really succeeded?
Bottom Line: Mediocre 90s quirk-pop.
