Poetry over varied styles of music. The first track is pretty good, as it’s like spoken word over the Beastie Boys’ Funky Boss.
The other tunes aren’t as successful – anything else funk is awful; the songs consisting of long guitar solos are decent if reminiscent of a Skinemax soundtrack; the goth/electro/ambient soundscapes (“Genesis,” “Mirrored”) are boring; straight up Thin Lizzy/ZZ Top-like rock songs like “Get Out Of My Face” and “Superstitions” are embarrassing.
I didn’t pay much attention to the spoken word, but the delivery is calming if serious. The combination of talking and the various soundscapes is lulling, but overall, the music is largely dopey.
