Well it’s been over 4 years since we had a new Swingin’ Utters album.

This isn’t really new material per say, but it’s still nice to get an album from Swingin’ Utters. The last time we got a SU album it was the Fat Wreck’s Live in the Dive album. Most of the band members have side projects like Johnny and Spike have Filthy Thieving Bastards, Johnny also has Druglords of the Avenue, and Spike has Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. The guys have more side projects but I don’t want to have the whole review listing what side bands they are in. All I’m saying is I want new material damn it!

Hatest Grits: B-Sides and Bullshit is a collection of 7 inch singles, album B-sides, rare unreleased tracks, compilation songs, covers and 9 unreleased early band demos. Obviously by the amount of Cock Sparrer covers, Swingin’ Utters are big fans. There’s 32 tracks in total and most of them are really great. The last few tracks are some rare-sounding tracks you may have heard on other albums, it’s the band playing them acoustically. Be sure to read the liner notes if you buy the album because the guys in the band discuss each song. Hatest Grits: B-Sides and Bullshit definitely fills the void of not having a new album from the band in over 5 years.

Bottom Line: An excellent B-sides collection album!
Notable Tracks: To Return Now, Where Are they Now, Tomorrow Is Not Now, Mr Keen, Lady Luck
