I never heard of Teenage Bottlerocket until I stumbled upon them on Myspace. I heard the song ‘So Cool’ off the album “Total” and I was hooked! Their punk rock sound is equivalent to The Queers, The Lillingtons, Groovie Ghoulies and other old Lookout Records-type bands. Its just a sound you don’t hear that much nowadays, or I don’t hear that much when it comes to new punk rock. I’m glad I got Teenage Bottlerocket’s newest album to review because I was going to end up buying it anyway.
This album is so good I’ve already listened to it a bunch of times. For those you don’t know, Teenage Bottlerocket are a punk rock band from Laramie, Wyoming. One of the vocalists was also in The Lillingtons, another punk band from Wyoming. So just think of that band but much more fine-tuned with even catchier pop punk songs. I’m not sure which vocalists sounds better but they both have a similar style. They both pronunciate words funny though. Maybe that’s how people talk out in the mid-west? My only complaint with this album is it’s way too short. Sure, it’s punk rock to have short songs but this album really makes you want to hear more. If you liked the band’s previous two albums, wait ’til you hear this one!
Bottom Line: A fantastic follow-up to “Total”
Notable Tracks: Gave You My Heart, Social Life, On My Own
