It’s time for another CBGB OMFUG Masters collection CD, and the Queers are the latest band to get the live treatment. The punk band from New Hampshire play 31 quick & fast punk rock songs to the CBGB crowd. The album was recorded on February 3rd, 2003 and the audio is pretty crappy. The audio is coming directly from the soundboard. I’m come to realize that all these CBGB collections are pretty crappy in sound and to just deal with it. I guess the bootleg quality sound is fitting with the punk rock music? But the only reason to get these CBGB recordings is part of the proceeds go to the Hilly Kristal Foundation for Musicians and Artists. Well, and if you like the bands a lot too.

The band opens with a Ramones cover, “Rockaway Beach” and play songs from a lot of their albums. At the time of this recording, they were releasing the EP “Today” off of Lookout Records. The band played a cover of Mr T Experience as well. I guess the album that got the most representation at this show was “Don’t Back Down,” which I still think is their best album to date. Although their newest album is certainly on the top of the list. The Queers have a hectic punk rock live show and this audio demonstrates that…well even though you can’t see it, but you can sense it based on the recording. There are better live albums (with better audio) by the Queers that I recommend over this.

Bottom Line: Unless you’re a die-hard Queers fans, I’m not sure this album is worth getting.
Notable Tracks: No Tit, Like a Parasite, Love Love Love, Punk Rock Girls, Tamara is a Punk
