I’ve seen Zox perform twice, and think they have an interesting sound…sometimes. I liked some of their songs, but sometimes they sing slow and it’s kind of boring to me. One of the reason why I thought their sound was interesting was because of their violin player. It sounds like a guitar live and he’s really energetic on stage too. Out of all their songs, their ska-tinged songs always stood out. But the ska-ish songs are gone now and they have a more computerized rock sound now.

The one song that stands out on this album is the folk tune “Goodnight.” They should maybe think about going into that direction perhaps? I think with Zox, they are still trying to find their sound and keep playing a wide range of styles. It’s hard to pin point which genre Zox actually is. One minute they sound like The Cure and then they sound like NSYNC (“Another Attack”). I don’t necessarily mind this album but not sure I’d listen to it again.

Bottom Line: An eclectic mix of rock songs but not sure I’d listen to this album again.
Notable Tracks: Goodnight, Towards Los Angeles, Don’t Believe in Love
