Don’t worry kids, Reel Big Fish hasn’t broken up. The band recently played in Europe and now they have released a music video of concert footage for their song “Your Girlfriend Sucks.” RBF will be playing the Viva Ska Vegas festival on May 4th and then will be playing the Warped Tour with bunch of bands I don’t know.

We announced last week that Less Than Jake signed with Fat Wreck Chords, and now they have announced a buttload of tour dates. The band will play in New York on Rocks Off! Boat Cruise on June 12th. They are playing the Rocks ON Boat Cruise in Boston on June 16th. The June dates will be supported by Hostage Calm and Pentimento.

Less Than Jake were on Fat Wreck Chords’ roster back in 2000 but they left for a major label soon after. Then in 201,2 the band re-released Borders & Boundaries and the subsequent EP collection Greetings & Salutations on Fat Wreck Chords so it makes sense that the band will be releasing their next album on Fat Wreck. The band plays to record the new album in May!

Asbestos Records, Christian McKnight, Adam Fachler are organizing a big two-day ska festival in New York City on Friday May 31st and Saturday June 1st at Irving Plaza. Sweet!

Long running Boston ska band Big D and the Kids Table have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their next 2 records. The band is seeking to raise an end goal of $20,000 by March 8th with a projected release for the records coming in Summer 2013.

Less Than Jake will be kicking off their 21st year as an active band with some dates down in the South before heading overseas for a 10-day European tour centered around festivals. The band will also stop by at SXSW in March, plus playing on a spliff cruise run by 311. Lots of Pez will be consumed.

Why does it seem that there are so many greater ska punk/two tone influenced bands in Europe than there are in the States nowadays? The Offenders hail from Italy and are based in Berlin. Their sound is a mix of classic two tone ska, ska punk and rocksteady. I had to do some research because they sounded very much like the early Millencolin ska punk stuff and I needed to make sure that Millencolin didn’t finally change their minds and go back to their roots.
