Morrissey has premiered the music video for “Spent The Day In Bed,” the first single taken from the upcoming album Low in High School. He already released a lyric video for it, but now there’s an official video for it!

Opening with a tongue-in-cheek scene, long-time fan Joey Barton is seen pushing a deadpan Morrissey around an old school social club in a wheelchair. The video also features the iconic performance artist David Hoyle.

“Spent The Day In Bed” was filmed at the 142 year-old Peckham Liberal Club and directed by prominent music video director Sophie Muller who has previously worked with Beyoncé, Kings Of Leon, Blur, The Killers and Annie Lennox. It’s the first time she has worked with Morrissey.

The track sees Morrissey slinging out advice to take on the media in classic fashion and recommending to “Stop watching the news because the news contrives to frighten you,” suggesting swapping the daily grind commute for a day lying in bed instead. It’s clear that in 2017, in a world of fake news and scaremongering politics, that Morrissey’s voice and biting honesty is needed more than ever.

The new album will be out November 17th!
