LOS ANGELES, CA Regarded by film historians and movie critics as one of the key, groundbreaking films of the 1960’s, The Graduate perpetuated the satiric comedy, mirroring themes of the ever-changing lives of those in Hollywood and helping usher a new crop of younger directors to the forefront of the film industry. MGM Home Entertainment revisits one of the most illicit affairs in film history when The Graduate: 40th Anniversary Edition arrives on DVD September 11. Starring Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman (1980, Best Actor, Kramer vs. Kramer; 1989, Best Actor, Rain Man) and Anne Bancroft (1963, Best Actress, The Miracle Worker), The Graduate follows Benjamin Braddock (Hoffman), a young college graduate who finds himself alienated and adrift in the shifting, social and sexual mores of the 1960s and questioning the values of society. Nominated for seven Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Hoffman), Best Actress (Bancroft), Best Supporting Actress (Ross), Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography, The Graduate won the Oscar for Best Director for then newcomer Mike Nichols (Closer, The Birdcage) who quickly became one of Hollywood’s elite directors following his win. The two-disc anniversary edition DVD features all new commentary tracks from Hoffman, Ross, Nichols and Academy Award winning director Steven Soderbergh (2001, Best Director, Traffic), a new retrospective documentary about the influence of the film, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more.

The Graduate: 40th Anniversary Edition is available for the suggested retail price of $24.98 U.S. / $31.98 Canada. Prebook is August 15, 2007.

Then the wife of his father’s business partner, the sexy Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), seduces him, and the affair only deepens his confusion.
