The Duff Guide to Ska has teamed up with Skamela to bring NYC an all-day ska festival that will celebrate the life and music of Roy Radics (The Rudie Crew, Bigger Thomas). The festival will benefit Roy Radics’ family and be held on Father’s Day (June 19th 2016) at The Well in Bushwick (272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY). Pilfers will be headlining the festival, along with Rudie Crew All-Stars, King Django, Members of the Pietasters, Members of Beat Brigade, Ladrones, Reggay Lords and lots more. More acts are being announced but please come out and support Roy Radic’s life & music, as well as seeing some great bands!

Roy Radics

Roy Radics, beloved singer and songwriter for The Rudie Crew, passed away very unexpectedly earlier this winter—leaving a huge hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and fans in the NYC ska community and beyond. To honor his legacy, The Duff Guide to Ska has teamed up with Skamela to organize an all-day (noon to 10:00 pm) outdoor ska festival benefiting Roy Radics’ family on Father’s Day (June 19, 2016) at The Well in Bushwick (272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY).

The Pilfers, one of the most popular third wave ska bands, are headlining the benefit/festival and they’ll share the stage with The Rudie Crew All-stars plus many special guests, King Django (of The Stubborn All-stars, Skinnerbox, and more), Reggay Lords (rocksteady), The Ladrones (Latin ska-punk), Funkface (Hard rock w/hip hop, soul, and ska), and groups of musicians forming specifically to perform at this event, including Steve Jackson and Dave Vermillion of The Pietasters, Carmelo DiBartolo and Dave Barry of Beat Brigade, Brendog Tween (Mephiskapheles) and Jerica Rosenblum (Mephiskapheles, Scofflaws, The Hard Times), and Mike Drance (The Bluebeats).

In addition, many local selectors will spin the best in ska, rocksteady, and reggae in between sets, including Agent Jay, Grace of Spades, John Glenn Sound, and Frankie Too Far.

The emcees for the festival are Rob “Bucket” Hingley of The Toasters and Checkerboard Phil of the Checkerboard Kids cable show.

All of the bands, selectors, and emcees listed are donating their time and talent in honor of and to celebrate Roy Radics’ music and life.

There will be food and drink to purchase on site throughout the day, as well as special Roy Radics merchandise (stickers and buttons) to purchase, with 100% of their sales going to Radics’ family.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of the show. Tickets can be purchased in advance here: https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1176989?utm_medium=bks. This is an 18+ event.
