This evening’s show is a benefit for Kevin Kjonaas, one of six members of SHAC7 currently serving time in federal prison. The SHAC7 are six activists and a corporation, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA, Inc., that have been found guilty of multiple federal felonies for their alleged role in simply campaigning to close down the notorious animal testing lab, Huntingdon Life Sciences. The six individuals are all currently in federal prison. They are not accused of actually smashing windows, liberating animals or even attending demonstrations, rather reporting on and encouraging others to engage in legal demonstrations and supporting the ideology of direct action. Kevin started his six year sentence on November 16, 2006.

Along with No Doubt, Sublime, and Rancid, the Los Angeles quartet Goldfinger helped contribute to a mini-U.S. ska-punk movement in the mid- to late ’90s. Their self-titled full-length debut hit stores in 96, spawning the popular single/video “Here in Your Bedroom.” They then toured alongside the Sex Pistols, No Doubt, Reel Big Fish, and joined the Vans Warped Tour. They have had a prolific career ever since, most recently releasing Disconnection Notice on Maverick in 2005.
