Lafayette, Indiana’s The Green Room Rockers and Cincinnati, Ohio’s The Pinstripes represent two of the most exciting bands coming out of the Midwest today. Both bands are firmly rooted in the fertile grounds of classic Jamaican Reggae, Rocksteady, and Ska, combining it with various American influences, most notably classic RnB and Soul, to create a sound that pays respect to its roots while injecting it with new life and energy. On the forefront of a revived musical movement that is expanding exponentially thanks in part to the growing success of bands like The Aggrolites, The Slackers, and Westbound Train, each band has spent the past few years touring coast to coast. They have gained admiration from new found fans who come out to dance and groove to their sweaty, floor pounding shows.

Released on Dashiki Clout Records, the label run by Mustard Plug front man Dave Kirchgessner, Midwest Soundclash commemorates the 30th anniversary of the classic Specials/Selector split 7“ that ignited the British Two-Tone era. It features three, all new recordings by each band; these songs represent new milestones in quality for each band both in terms of song-writing, musicianship, and recording. The Green Room Rockers brought in the Slackers’ Dave Hillyard to produce their side of the record. Both sides were mastered by Mass Giorgini at Sonic Iguana studios, known for recording such legendary punk band such as Alkaline Trio, Rise Against and Anti Flag. Each 10” also features original artwork that was designed and hand screen printed by the Pinstripes’ Matt Kursmark. One code for a free digital download of the album will also be included with each record.
