Pepper Launch Fall Headline Tour On 10/17 With Special Guests The Expendables, Passafire & Whitestarr

Even though we’re already a few weeks into fall, it will still be summer at venues across the country as Kona, Hawaii’s favorite sons Pepper head out on a national headline tour with special guest openers The Expendables, Passafire and Whitestarr.

After a summer spent on the Vans Warped Tour main stage, Pepper is ready to bring its island vibes and feel good party tunes to club audiences across the country. Fans can expect the band to play songs off their 4 full length releases, including the recently released, No Shame which is a bold artistic leap forward for the Island-born-and-bred, California-based trio.

“We wanted to make a record that perfectly catches the Pepper vibe and I think we’ve done just that,” says drummer-vocalist Yesod Williams. “On This record, we’ve really succeeded in bringing the positive elements of our live show into the studio.”

The threesome credits the diverse stable of producers they recruited for much of the success of the project, including Nick Hexum of 311, No Doubt bass player Tony Kanal and former Butthole Surfer turned producer Paul Leary (Meat Puppets, Supersuckers.)

Pepper has toured with the likes of 311, The Wailers, Slightly Stoopid, G-Love & Special Sauce and Snoop Dogg. They’ve played at festivals such as The Bob Marley Day Celebration, San Diego’s Street Scene, Reggae on the River, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Download Festival in Boston and X-Games and Lollapalooza 2006. The band’s catalogue has sold well over 200,000 units to date. All of them independently released, 1999’s Give’n It has sold over 25,000, 2002’s Kona Town has sold over 110,000, 2004’s In With The Old over 70,000 and 2005’s Pepper Live DVD recorded over two sold-out nights at the Troubadour in W. Hollywood, has sold over 5,000 copies.

Pepper made a big slash at Alternative radio in early 2005 with their hit Give It Up’ The song received serious airplay at key stations like KROQ/LA, WXRK/NY, 91X/San Diego, Q101/Chicago, KXTE/Las Vegas, KEDJ/Phoenix and KUCD/Honolulu. The video for Give It Up’ was embraced by Fuse where it won on Oven Fresh’.

Pepper is: Singer/Guitarist Kaleo Wassman, Bassist/Vocalist Bret Bollinger and Drummer/Vocalist Yesod Williams.

One of three openers for Pepper, The Expendables sound has been described as an eclectic mix of genre-bending rock, reggae and surf. The Santa Cruz, CA based band has charmed audiences far and wide and has performed with acts such as 311, Matisyahu, Slightly Stoopid and reggae legend Eek-A-Mouse (in addition to appearances on the Vans Warped Tour.) The Expendables also ranked at number one in the Metro Santa Cruz Top 10 list of favorite bands in local music. The band has four original full-length albums to its credit: “No Time to Worry” (2001); “Open Container” (2002); “Gettin’ Filthy” (2006) and their just released self-titled CD (which was produced by Slightly Stoopid and G Love & Special Sauce producer Chris DiBeneditto.)
