The Scotch Bonnets are releasing a brand new album on February 2nd. The new album Come On Over, will be released on CD February 2nd, May 3rd on Vinyl via Jump Up Records. The band will also be touring out West (some with the Toasters), starting February 1st in Dallas at Checkered Past. They start their tour with The Toasters on February 4th and end at February 10th in Berkeley, CA at 924 Gilman. More info and dates below.

“I’m stoked to finally get the band to the West Coast!” exclaimed singer/guitarist Kristin Forbes who also goes by her nom de guerre Lady Hatchet. “And to do it with The Toasters, I couldn’t ask to be on a better tour with better people.” A skilled multi-instrumentalist, Forbes endeared herself to the Ska legends by playing with them on bass last September for a tour in Mexico.

The Scotch Bonnets have been keeping the party jumping all night with their infectious energy since their debut in 2009. Led by Forbes on Lead Vocals, Guitars, and as primary Songwriter, the Bonnets blend classic Jamaican grooves with a fresh approach to American singer-songwriting. They released their debut album, Live Ya Life (2013), the EP Quest (2014), and The District 7” (2017). They have collaborated with Punk legend HR of Bad Brains and have been the backing band for The Specials guitarist, Roddy Radiation.

On February 2nd, the Scotch Bonnets will finally release their long-awaited sophomore album Come On Over. The CD features nine new songs about loss, longing, and endurance from a tough yet vulnerable feminine perspective. Music ranges from the Elvis Costello-esque, ‘Another Saturday Night’ to super catchy ska stompers like ‘Hair Did’ to a ferociously funky reggae version of Lorde’s “Royals.” Cameos come from Angelo Moore of Fishbone and The Slackers’ saxophonist, David Hillyard who helped produce the album. Hillyard says, “Hachet is the real deal. A great singer. She plays Guitar, Keys, and Bass and writes strong tunes. She has a commanding stage presence. Kristin and The Bonnets are ready, they have been paying their dues for years, and now is their time to shine.”
