Riot Fest and Punk Rock Bowling Festivals are the two punk rock festivals to always top and so far no one has come close. Riot Fest has announced initial dates and bands for this year’s festival taking place in Chicago between October 5th-9th. Weezer, Social Distortion and Descendents will headlining, with many others playing as well like X, ALL, Suicide Machines, Youth of Today, D Generation, Helmet, The Business, Down By Law, The Tossers…Plus the fest is going to make a stop in Philly in September. Why isn’t there a New York punk rock festival?? Is this something I’m going to have to do??

Since 2005, Riot Fest has outdone itself year after year, presenting the best bands from every genre under the umbrella of rock and punk, with epic reunions being a hallmark of the festival. In 2011, Red Bull Riot Fest steps up the game to a new level: killer headliners abound, from Weezer and the Descendents to Social Distortion and X (playing their iconic Los Angeles album in its entirety).

Riot Fest is also saving the best for last with their final headliner announcement on Friday, June 24 at 9 a.m. CDT — watch for a press release!

“The final headliner announcement is very special for me personally, and almost needless to say, it’s something that I never thought would happen. We thought that this deserves its very own separate announcement and I’m happy to say that we’ll be doing it with a few close friends that you might know this upcoming Friday,” said Michael A. Red Bull Riot Fest began in 2005, when Michael Petryshyn and Sean McKeough launched the first fest in multiple venues over a weekend in Chicago to celebrate rock and punk from every era. They put special emphasis on reuniting influential punk and underground bands who hadn’t shared the stage in years and Chicago’s rich music history has always been a huge part of the Riot Fest roster. It quickly became one of the top gatherings for fans of every genre under the rock, indie and punk umbrella, with fans traveling from around the world to attend.
