Band Ends Year Of Tremendous Innovation By Releasing Six Songs Recorded Initially Recorded For iPhone App

Los Angeles, CA., – December 15, 2008 – Weezer spreads some holiday cheer for fans with the digital release of six Christmas songs on December 16. The songs were originally recorded for the recently released the #1 selling iPhone app “Tap Tap Revenge Christmas With Weezer.” For the first time ever a band recorded music for an app but demand was so great from non-iPhone users that the band decided to make the songs available at places like iTunes and Amazon.com. This also marks the first time Apple released App music on iTunes. The songs on the EP are: “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”, “Silent Night”, “O Holy Night”, “The First Noel”, “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful.”

Last night it was back to Weezer as the greatest rock band around wowing the crowd at the Spike Video Game Awards with their latest single “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn). The single was the #1 most added song at Modern Rock Radio and continues the band’s and album’s domination of the format that began with the first single “Pork and Beans” which sat atop the chart for an astounding 11 weeks. The second single, “Troublemaker” peaked at #2. A video from “The Greatest Man” is a clip from Warren Miller’s latest ski film Children Of Winter(www.grindtv.com/video/snow/children_of_winter_poor_boyz_featuring_weezer/). “Troublemaker” is also featured in the movie.

The accompanying video to “Pork and Beans” garnered the band’s second career Grammy Nomination for “Best Short Form Video.” The video became a cultural phenomenon upon its release and was viewed over 17 million times on Youtube (www.youtube.com/watch?v=muP9eH2p2PI).

While the year winds down, Weezer are getting busier, making sure all their fans get their holiday wishes as they gear up to make 2009 a busy one.
