Co-conceived and Directed by Jay Scheib Multi-media punk rock theater extravaganza to make NYC premiere at Webster Hall on January 9, 2009!

ArKtype, led by producer Thomas O. Kriegsmann, is thrilled to announce the NYC premiere of a hybrid punk rock multi-media theater event following the work s highly acclaimed US and European premieres. Brooklyn punk legends World/Inferno Friendship Society (WIFS) join forces with visionary director Jay Scheib (Untitled MARS This Title May Change, Performance Space 122; This Place is a Desert, Under The Radar 08), one of contemporary theater s brightest young visionaries, to create a punk-rock operetta for the times.

Continuing the charge in the evolution of hybrid performance genres via the ultimate 20th century archetype of alienation, Peter Lorre, WIFS dedicate a furious song cycle following Lorre s enigmatic existence from formative days alongside Wedekind and Brecht through the cycle of World Wars to a pitiless fall from grace in the drug-infused quagmire of Hollywood vines.

Led by the inimitable Jack Terricloth, WIFS paints a picture of the twentieth century from the perennial outsider s view via a multi-media spectacle recreating key motion picture sequences mixed with live interactive video. The concert performance marks an unprecedented fusion of one of today s best live acts with real time performance media. Following the world premiere in fall 2007 at World Caf Live in conjunction with the Chunksaah Records release of the recorded song cycle produced by Don Fury, the U.S. pre-eminent progressive punk band brings their unique vision from the concert halls to the stage for the first time.

ADDICTED TO BAD IDEAS: Peter Lorre s 20th Century will play for ONE performance only, January 9th @ Webster Hall, doors at 8PM, show at 9PM. The premiere will be followed by a full set of music by WIFS. Tickets are available through all Ticketmaster and Bowery Presents outlets (Mercury Lounge & Music Hall of Williamsburg) and at the Public Theater Box Office.
