In preparation for the U.S. release of their new album, Skeleton Jar, on May 24th, 2005, Australia’s YOUTH GROUP have announced a run of North American tour dates in June.

YOUTH GROUP are at the forefront of an exciting new era in Australian music. They have toured extensively throughout Australia – both under their own steam and as supports for artists such as, Elliott Smith and The Strokes.

They have also toured the U.S. west coast with long time hometown fans, The Vines. Youth Group’s live shows are as intimate and compelling as their recorded music. With an extremely unique brand of dark, melancholy, textural rhythms and vocals, YOUTH GROUP is most definitely a band to be seen, heard and experienced

The new album has been garnering much praise from fans, fellow artists and critics alike. Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie stated, “Skeleton Jar is sweet and dear and genuine in a world stolen by cynics. Put simply, Youth Group gets it. If you don’t love them your heart is dead.”

Gregg LaGambina of Filter Magazine expressed, “Skeleton Jar sounds like I’ve loved it for years. Its ability to both remind me of all my favorite things, but not sound like any of them in particular is a little scary It came into my life, told me that I didn’t have to get up, asked if I wanted a glass of water or anything from the kitchen, I shook my head and here I am now with another favorite record and I didn’t even know I left the front door unlocked. Now it lives in my stereo and has a set of keys to the house and my heart.”

Blender Magazine declared the album as “dark, haunting and infectious.worth the time to get to know.”
