I was curious to finally hear this well-renowned Scottish indie-pop band, but I found the experience to be lackluster.

‘Gramme alternates between light and dark – fuzzy, bright guitar pop and slower, slightly dissonant lo-fi. While all of it is pleasant, none of it really grabbed me. Their tension-and-release style is more subtle than most post-punk bands with the same approach and tends to be more lulling than cathartic. The most interesting tune, “The Unraveling,” is an epic soundscape extravaganza, but is unfortunately 11 minutes long, which is about 8 minutes past my threshold.
