Unlike the rest of the music scene, I think Against Me! are somewhat overrated and I just don’t see what the appeal is. But I can tell you one thing, the band doesn’t disappoint with their live shows. Even though I’m not the biggest fan, I can appreciate their energetic shows and actually like the band when I see them live. I’m not sure why I don’t like them on as much on CD, maybe I find them annoying at times? Maybe it’s the “talking” style that Tom has that I don’t like. But I do like a few songs from this album.

“Americans Abroad!!! Against Me!!!” was recorded in little London Foggy Town, on March 21st 2006 at the Mean Fiddler. I recognize a lot of these songs from seeing them live a few times. A lot of the songs they play are from their 2 latest albums “As the Eternal Cowboy” and “Searching for a Former Clarity.” The kind of songs I like Against Me! playing is stuff like “From Her Lips to God’s Ears (The Energizer).” Just play your music fast and scream, without getting all slow & talky. One thing I don’t like about the Against Me! is having the whole audience singing along. It gets so loud that the band doesn’t even sing, they just let the crowd sing for them. Not to be a dick, but I don’t spend money to have the crowd sing the songs, I want to see the band performing them! It’s cool every once and awhile but to me, it seemed like it happened for each song.

The quality for this CD is pretty good, but I’ve heard better production for other live albums. It still makes you feel like you’re at the concert, just minus the annoying fans. There is a new song called “Americans Abroad” on here as well, along with a music video for “Problems.” Fans of Against Me! Should get this live album, but if you don’t know who the band is, go see them in concert first.

Bottom Line: This is a pretty decent live album from Against Me!
Notable Tracks: From Her Lips to God’s Ears (The Energizer), Don’t Lose Touch, You Look Like I Need a Drink, Cliche Guevera
