The punk band American Steel are back together again after being on hiatus for 6 years….Or if you mean being hiatus, playing in the band Communique. Majority of the band members played in that band and further developed their musical skills. This is American Steel’s fourth full-length album and their first album on Fat Wreck. From what I read, it sounds darker & more of a variety in style than their previous albums.

I haven’t heard of American Steel until now but I like what I hear. Their songs on the new album have a very-Hot Water Music sound to them. The songs are catchy & poppy, but still have an aggressive sound to them. There’s enough angst to make these be considered punk rock songs. Fans of Fugazi, Against Me, Lawrence Arms, and Hot Water Music will like this new album from American Steel! American Steel surprised me (because I actually liked this album) and I’m looking forward to hearing more.

Bottom Line: American Steel are back and sound great!
