You like Hot Water Music? Than you’ll really like The Draft, because this band features of that band. The last remaining member of the Draft, Todd Rockhill, was recruited by the other guys to rock out on guitar. The band has a similar sound to Hot Water Music but the writing & music style is slightly different. This is the Draft’s debut album but it sounds like they have been a group for years. Well I guess technically they have with HWM, but I mean the Draft sound like they been together for awhile. Ahh forget it.

“Let It Go” is a stand-out track because it sounds different from the other tracks. The song even has some ska beats in there as well, but it’s not really a song to skank to (unless you’re really desperate for ska music). One minute the band sounds like they could be on mainstream radio, and then the next they sound like they really belong on college radio stations. I actually thought the second half of the album was the strongest because the songs were more punkier. I thought the vocals of Chris Wollard was pretty good and not annoying at all. It was a little whiny at times but doesn’t get out of hand like other bands out there. I thought this album was good, and i’m surprised I’m even saying that.

Bottom Line: If you like Hot Water Music, the Draft is a band you’ll really like!
