Punk Wave? Perhaps the newest fad to hit the music scene or quickly becoming the newest one. It seems a lot of bands are reviving new wave (i.e. Elkland), and people who grew up in the 80’s should be pleased. People who hated the 80’s, will probably hate this type of music though. I feel like whipping out my fiery red Michael Jackson leather jacket and start break dancin’ to this music. robotic voice “BREAK-DANCE!” Yeah, I actually owned that jacket in the 80’s, and I did break dance when I was in school. I can do the robot and snake like no other!

Epoxies remind me of a cross between Blondie, the Pretenders, Devo and even the Aquabats! This certainly is a different type of band for Fat Wreck and I think that’s a good thing to switch it up every once and awhile. I like the synth-punk sound and it has worked well for other punk bands going in that direction, like the Travoltas. Stop the Future is the second release from the Epoxies, and first on Fat Wreck Chords. It’s kind of scary how much this band sounds straight out of the 80’s. There are a lot of fun & interesting songs on here, but there is some songs that tend to get annoying. They get a little over-synthesized and start to give me a headache. But if they continue to make songs like “No Interest,” they shouldn’t have anything to worry about it. If you are curious, and want to hear what punk wave sounds like, go out and buy the Epoxies’ “Stop the Future!”

Bottom Line: Fun synth-punk/punk wave band!
