I consider myself a huge film score person, but I honestly didn’t know of Francis Lai. He’s a French composer & accordionist known for his scores for Un homme et une femme, Love Story, Emmanuelle II, Le Passager de la Pluie, and many more. This album is a good place to start to get into his work!

“13 Jours en France” starts things off wonderfully, as it sounds very French. I’m going to Paris for the first time this summer and I couldn’t think of anything better than listening to some of this music to get myself in the mood. The score tracks are romantic, dramatic, filled with love and elegance. Well not every track is like that but a lot of them are. Many of the tracks use a lot of the classic guitar, violins and other strings. It’s very European and I like it. I wouldn’t listen to something like this all the time, but when I’m in a France/European mood; The Francis Lai Essential Film Music Collection would be something I would put on. There are 20 tracks in all, featuring tracks from his most famous pieces so definitely get this if you like Lai’s work.

Bottom Line: Nice collection of tracks from Francis Lai
Notable Tracks: 13 Jours en France, Itineraire D’un Enfant Gate, Le Genre Humain
