This is very good stuff – danceably spastic rhythms, post-punky guitars, polished powerpop arrangements, and New Romantic vocals. I don’t remember their first album too well though “Franz Ferdinand clone” has stuck in my mind. But I enjoyed this album a lot – its strong 80s British New Wave sensibilities help set them apart from the the tight-jeans-wearing guyliner bands playing similar syncopated garage rock.

Ironic considering their name, but The Futureheads are steeped in modern garage and retro 80s, and far enough into the latter to not sound like an iPod commercial.

Bottom Line:
Notable Tracks: The Beginning of a Twist, Think Tonight, Work Is Never Done
