This movie came out right? I think Hitman was in theaters for a few weeks and then it disappeared. I’m not sure it’s a good movie or not, but it does look like a lot of fun in the same realm of the Transporter and other over the top action flicks. The movie stars Timothy Olyphant who’s been in The Girl Next Door, Deadwood and Live Free or Die Hard. Hitman is based off the video game but like with most video games, I never played this one.
The Hitman score was composed by Media Ventures (or Remote Control Productions) composer Geoff Zanelli. Over the years, Zanelli composed additional pieces of music for Hans Zimmer, John Powell, Harry Gregson-Williams and others. Now he’s doing his own composing and I’m surprised he hasn’t composed more. This score is a bit heavy on the computerized sounds, but it has a lot of intense action cues. It reminds me of the scores from Bourne Identity, Enemy of the State, Bad Company, Equilibrium and other ones from those composers previously mentioned. I think I will like this score better once I see the movie but as a stand alone score, I didn’t care for it that much.
Bottom Line: Too computerized for my taste but I’m sure it fits the movie well.
Notable Tracks: Ave Maria, I Take Out the Trash, Denouement
