Heptones are legendary among the rocksteady/reggae scene and this album features previously unreleased extended mixes, rare tracks and other hard to find music from the band. Deep in the Roots was recorded in Kingston’s Channel One Studio producer Niney The Observer. This is the type of the reggae that I really love. The traditional, slow beat, awesome singin’ reggae. Though I don’t really care for the dub tracks though since I’m not a dub fan. The Heptones also cover the song “Suspicious Minds” which Elvis did, not sure if he wrote that tune though. But anyway, this was a pretty good rocksteady/reggae album.

Bottom Line: Old styled reggae fans should get this CD.
