Kiefer Sutherland stars in Mirrors as Jack Bauer fighting a bunch of terrorized mirrors! No seriously, Kiefer is in the movie but he plays a security guard. He discovers that there’s an evil spirit in the mirrors of an abandoned department store. Why doesn’t he just quit and work at McDonald’s? At least he’ll survive that!

Alexandra Aja co-wrote and directed the movie. Javier Navarrete was tapped to compose the score, and you might be familiar with his work in Pan’s Labyrinth. He was nominated for an Oscar for that score. Obviously with this type of movie you’re going to get a spooky score and Navarrete delivers. The main title sounds like something you’d hear in a fun house or circus, and it also sounds like something Danny Elfman would compose. After the opening track, the score settles down for a few tracks before starting up the creepy score again. A lot of the tracks have faint voices in it, or screechy strings, or pounding drums. The typical horror movie score motifs. I liked listening to this score.

Bottom Line: A solid, creepy film score
Notable Tracks: Asturias/Main Titles, The Mayflower, Asturias/I’vestigation
