Heartbeat Records continues the Studio One re-release mayhem with singer John Holt. I’m not really familiar with his music that much but he was with the reggae group the Paragons. This album contains 18 tracks of reggae & rocksteady classics, plus seven tracks feature rare stereo mixes and three of them have never appeared on CD before!

The album begins with “Ok Fred” and I’ve heard this song somewhere before. Probably on some compilation or maybe some cover I heard? “Happy Go Lucky Girl” is probably the most notable track on the album because I’ve heard this song plenty of times. I don’t really know what else to say about this Cd. It’s got a lot of great songs and any old school reggae fan will love this CD (if you don’t already have this). Many songs are about love and women, so if you just broke up with someone, this will be the wrong CD to play. But after hearing “I Can’t Get You Off My Mind”, I’ll definitely be checking out more music from John Holt because his vocals are very recognizable and good. Plus the man had one awesome afro!

Bottom Line: A great collection of reggae classics from John Holt
Notable Tracks: Have You Ever Been In Love, My Sweet Lord, Happy Go Lucky Girl, I Can’t Get You Off My Mind
