Refreshingly light, gimmick-less indie rock from Brooklyn. Ludlow Lions take a Squeeze-like power pop and strain it through Sonic Youth’s pleasantly minimalist, lazy-day fuzz. The result is both hook-laden and narcotic, and it works well.

A couple of songs slow down to an Elliot Smith-like crawl, and without much emotional weight, they’re entirely skippable. They don’t take away from this impressive debut, though, made more impressive by the fact that you can download it for free or – preferably – by donation.

Bottom Line: At pay-what-you-will, it’s definitely worth it.
Notable Tracks: We’re So Proud of Doom, I Didn’t Know, Weight of Sound
