I can thank the Internet and file sharing on finding this band. If there wasn’t file sharing around, I may not have found this great band! I have their first 2 albums but I have to buy their other 2 newer releases “Here Comes Lucky” and “Hellfire Club Sessions.” The Mahones are from Canada so it’s kind of hard to find their stuff. Hopefully I can get The Mahones other Cds sometime soon because this band is just plain awesome. I haven’t stopped listening to these 2 Cds!! “Paint The Town Red” is their “Best Of” Cd and it’s excellent. Lots of catchy Celtic punk songs to sing along to. I knew a lot of tracks on this Cd but there was a few that I haven’t heard and they were really good. Along with “Paint the Town Red..Best Of,” came their brand new live Cd “Live At The Horseshoe.” Not sure if it’s being sold that way but that’s what I got so..I was happy to get both! Anyway, the live performances were recorded on September 15 & 16, 2000 in Toronto. The live Cd contains tracks like “Paint the Town Red,” “Rose &Crown,” “Across The USA,” “Drunken Lazy Bastard” and many more! From hearing this live Cd really makes me want to travel up to Toronto or somewhere in Canada and check out the Mahones. I guess now I have another reason to go back to Canada besides the Hockey Hall of Fame. What’s even funnier and ironic to me, is someone who doesn’t drink, loves music that sings nothing but drinking. I guess it’s like a Satan worshipper listening to Christian music. haha. I don’t have a problem with it and I found the songs catchy and great. I’m not saying the Mahones sing nothing but drinking songs but I’m just talking about the whole Celtic genre here. If you like bands like The Pogues, Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys definitely check out the Mahones if you haven’t already.

Bottom Line: You want to hear a band that’s similar to the Pogues but has a completely different style? Than chec
