Jeep MacNichol, original Samples drummer traveled to Jamaica to record an album with some of his favorite reggae artists and what you get is a unique reggae album. Some of the artists & DJs featured on the album are: Sly & Robbie, Cutty Ranks, Bounty Killer, Michael Rose, Dave Wakeling from the Beat, Frankie Paul, Barrington Levy, and more. I never even heard of the album until I had the chance to review this. Once I knew who was on the album, I knew it was going to be interesting. The music is a blend of reggae, dancehall, hip hop and dub and every song is different from another. It’s different because there’s a different singers & musicians on each track.

I loved the tracks with Dave Wakeling, Michael Rose, Barrington Levy and Frankie Paul the most. Dave Wakeling has such a great and distinctive voice and wish he did more albums. Rose and Levy provide their signature vocals and rhythms to the songs and you can’t beat that. This is really a cool album and worth listening. I’m looking forward to Mr Anonymous’ next album, let’s just hope it’s recorded in Jamaica again with some other great reggae artists.

Bottom Line: Fans of The Samples, English Beat, Barrington Levy and Michael Rose will love this album. It’s different and very unique.
