My favorite poppunk band seems to have abandoned the punk on this one. Yet I can’t really get upset the music is just too good. It’s obvious that the band evolved not to target the mainstream (their music has always been very poppy, plus they’ve always been in the Lookout! stable and don’t seem to be shopping around.), but to expand their sound. I guess punk can be a very narrowing music form, especially for a band such as MTX who like to experiment with pop rock structures. Can you really get angry at a band who wants to do more and have a fuller sound? While this new direction still sorta scares me, I really like this album. The future ain’t what it used to be, but MTX always makes it brighter.
