Who would have thought a band with mustard as their mascot would last for almost 15 years!? But one of the longest running US ska bands has a Best-Of Cd and they deserve it! Mustard Plug have been around since the early 90’s and seem to be still going pretty strong and show no signs of stopping. I’m surprised the band hasn’t changed their sound to emo or something, since that’s what some ska bands have done. But they still play quirky ska punk and you gotta give them props for that.

The “Beer(Song)” starts the album off right and gets you in the mood for some mustard love! Okay that really sounded gross. “The Beer Song” turned out to be one of Mustard Plug’s most popular songs, I preferred a bunch of other songs to that one though. I think “Too Stoopid” is my favorite Plug song but for some strange reason, it’s not even on this album! I was really shocked to see that because that was THE song that got me into the band back in ’96. Oh well, I’ll have to deal with that and enjoy their other songs. There’s still plenty of great tracks on here like “Mr Smiley,” “Throw a Bomb,” “Thigh High Nylons” and “Everything Girl.” Other tracks I would have put on this album would have been “Miss Michigan” and “Never Be” but I can’t get everything I want, can I? It’s hard to say which Mustard Plug album is my favorite so far, it might be a toss up between “Evildoers Beware” and “Pray for Mojo.” In my opinion, both albums were ska punk brilliance. There’s a total of 19 tracks on this CD plus 2 music videos, one for “You” and the other is “Everything Girl.” Fun videos and I remember seeing those on 120 Minutes on MTV back in the day when MTV actually did play some music. I kept trying to listen to the CD on my laptop and the CD kept skipping. A program opens up when you pop the CD in (for the music videos), and then once you click it off; it still skips the CD. So that was a bit irritating. Overall, I would have done some different song choices but the album is still very good! Worth picking up if you are a Mustard Plug fan!

Bottom Line: An excellent Best-Of CD from the Plug!
Notable Tracks: Beer, Mr Smiley, Go, Throw a Bomb, Everything Girl, Yesterday, Mendoza, Thigh High Nylons
