Ninja Gun play wall-of-sound but brightly hooked indie with a southern fried twist. Kinda like if an amalgamation of Tom Petty, the Smoking Popes, and Cracker joined a melodic punk band.

It’s too Americana for my tastes (the Georgian peach on the cover should’ve been a tip-off), but the twang is actually what elevates them from being a run-of-the-mill indie band. Their sound is disappointing for a band named Ninja Gun (cmon guys – Casio noise punk!), but this would be a great album if their name were Jimmy Heartland and the Jiffy Pops.
