For a throwback to 90s melodic punk mixed with some hard rock and guitar pop, these guys sell it. Ironically, it’s because there is heart here. Lyrics are sung with gusto and the band plays with rock spirit.
The first two tracks (“All the Sad Young Men” and “Discoveries”) are superlatively infectious rockers. The album then branches out with a little alt-country, a couple of irritating ballads, and a raucous punky number that reminded me a little of the Pixies (“Unsatisfied”).
Bottom Line: Decent but uneven hard rock.
Notable Tracks: All the Sad Young Men, Discoveries, Unsatisfied
