At best, PPP is driving good fun. They can be noisy, brash, even downright artsy, but the buzzing guitars and fast-paced drumming keep it moving straight ahead in a linear, standard rock structure.

But the music isn’t great – sometimes the buzzing guitars take on an obnoxious drone, and the vocals are too self-consciously zany with a range from screamy to party-shouting to falsetto singing. I do appreciate how they’re experimental without straying too far from a basic rock frame, and I also like their use of saxophone, but for the most part, they’re grating and irritating.
