Remastered and reissued, Steel Pulse’s True Democracy has some classic
tracks from the roots rock reggae masters, along with 4 new tracks. Those 4
songs are variations already on this album but are from the 12″ and Dub
versions of the songs. What stood out about listening to this album is
that, most of these songs are still played live by the band like Chant A
Psalm, Ravers, and Rally Round to name a few. Originally released in 1982,
Steel Pulse was and still is one of the most prominent roots conscious
bands out there. True Democracy is an underlying meaning to the band trying
to get airplay elsewhere besides in London, and Europe.

Forced off the label by Island, due to “no interest in America,” the band looked to release their music on their own. Still going strong today, Steel Pulse has done a very good job of maintaining their careers and developing new
records. Currently, “African Holocaust” is out and was recently nominated for a Grammy.

Bottom Line: Classic album that is a must have for every Pulse fan and roots reggae fans
Notable Tracks: Chant A Psalm, Worth His Weight In Gold (Rally Round),Blues Dance Raid
