The Simmertones hail from the Devon, UK, and their debut album “Presenting The Simmertones Vol. 1” was just released. Even though there are only 7 tracks on this album, I definitely recommend checking this album & band out!

The ska band play original material, as well as some covers of some ska classics. The first track is Justin Hinds and the Dominoes’ “Over The River” and the band does Justin Hinds justice. Other covers that Simmertones do on this short album include the trad song “Sammy Dead” and The Skatalites’ “Ball of Fire.” If you thought their covers sound good, wait ‘til you hear some of their original stuff. The tracks “One Time Soon” and “Warm your Bones” are skankin’ ska tunes! To end the album of is the song “Do What You Got To Do” and I think it’s a fine song to end the album. It’s a mixture of reggae beats and ska riffs. The Simmetones’ music is upbeat and uplifting and I want to hear more! NOW!

Bottom Line: Fans of the Toasters, Ruder Than You and English Beat
Notable Tracks: Over The River, One Time Soon, Warm Your Bones
