Punk Voter and Fat Wreck decided to team up and release a benefit CD for Protect. Protect is a national, pro-child, single focus membership association to building a powerful, nonpartisan, force for the protection of children from abuse and other things. Benefit albums are always cool because they support a good cause, and they are usually really cheap too! Plus the music isn’t bad at all, and features a lot of big bands in the scene today.

Some of the bands on the comp. are NOFX, Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, Joey Cape of Lagwagon, Coalesce, MxPx, Darkest Hour, Soviettes, Against Me!, Anti-Flag, Jawbreaker, Western Addiction and more! Most of the songs from these bands are unreleased too! There’s a lot of different styles of punk rock on here, ranging from acoustic tracks to straight up hardcore; so there’s something for everyone. I think one person that should have really been on this comp was Billy Bragg. He just seems like the perfect person for this type of compilation. While I didn’t like every song (when have I?) on the album, you should still buy this because it supports a good cause. For more info go to http://www.protect.org.

Bottom Line: A good comp for a good cause!
Notable Tracks: Matt Skiba- “Demons Away,” NOFX- “Leaving Jesusland,” The Soviettes- “Middle of the Night,” The Ergs- “Radio K,” Anti-Flag- “Feminism is for Everybody,” Jawbreaker- “Want (Live)” Western Addiction- “When a Good Friend Attacks,” Against Me- “Wagon Wheel”
