I haven’t really got into Goth music before. I just think it wasn’t my thing growing up, and I was too much a metalhead and not depressed. But now, I listen to the Cure & The Smiths at least once a day. I just don’t write morbid poetry in the dark that’s all. Suicide Girls and Epitaph have teamed up to bring you some classic & unreleased goth/new wave/industrial tunes for all you little Trent Reznors out there. If you don’t know what Suicide Girls is, it’s an ‘entertainment for punk men’ website if ya catch my drift. It’s the ultimate whack off site for little horny punk teens. Or maybe, guys in there late 20’s as well?

But anyway, they picked some of their favorite goth tunes and what you get is a pretty good compilation that features some awesome bands! Bands like The Cure, Joy Division, Ministry, The Cult, Skinny Puppy, Bauhaus, NIN, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Echo and the Bunnymen and more. Plus there’s unreleased material from Alkaline trio and Atmosphere, which AK seems more fitting on this CD than Atmosphere. Actually, Atmosphere seems downright out of place on this album, even if they are doing a cover of some song (I think). I like all the songs from the bands I listed above, especially the tracks from The Cult and Siouxsie. You’ve pretty much heard these songs on other soundtracks and albums before but it’s nice to hear it once again. It’s certainly a nice starter kit for a goth kid. I want to check out some more songs of other bands I haven’t gotten into as well. Definitely an interesting compilation from Epitaph…finally.

Bottom Line: Great comp with a lot of classic goth rock bands on it.
Notable Tracks: Ministry-” Everyday is Hallowen,” Gene Loves Jezbel- “Desire (Come and get it),” Echo and Bunnymen- “With a Hip,” The Cult- She Sells Sanctuary”
