It’s seems more and more common to have soundtracks for video games these days. Especially when songs are specifically recorded for the game like the popular Tony Hawk games. This soundtrack features some of the today’s top punk, rock, whatever bands and they are all covering classic 80’s punk, hardcore & metal songs.

The first song “Institutionalized,” is by Senses Fail, and they pretty much hack that classic Suicidal Tendencies song to death. A lot of these bands I can’t stand, but they do play harder then they usually do. Maybe since all the bands they are covering actually have balls and don’t sound like a bunch of whiny bitches. Thrice cover one of my favorite bands, Minor Threat and while they have the intensity of the band, I can’t stand the loud, distorted vocals that the singer uses. This doesn’t even come close to the original! I don’t know what the big fuss is with Thrice, I think they sound like every other band out there in the scene. Yeah I said it, big whoop, wanna fight about it? Dropkick Murphys are on the comp as well and do a cover of The Adolescents, so at least one or two bands I like are on here. The other is Rise Against and they cover “Fix Me.” And if there was one band to make “Start Today” by the Gorilla Biscuits sound complete wimpy, it’s Fall Out Boy. These bands really have no right in covering these songs, AT ALL. These songs are classic and these bands just totally ruined them. Way to go Vagrant!

Bottom Line: A bunch of bands (minus DKM and Rise Against) that shouldn’t be covering classic punk songs.
Notable Tracks: Dropkick Murphys- “Who is Who” Alkaline Trio- “Wash Away,” Rise Against- “Fix Me”
