Another season of Hank Moody’s exploits are upon us and it’s shaping up to be a laugh out loud riot/sex romp like usual. The previous season of Californication proved to be a low point for Hank, so this season is about redemption. But if you’ve been paying attention to the show, you know it’s gonna be a roller coaster ride to get back to the top.

One of the aspects of the show that is how unique and cool the music is. Plus, the show also has a music vibe to it since Hank’s daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin) plays the guitar. This season she joins a rock/punk band called Queens of Dogtown. You can hear their cover songs for Would?, Last Caress, and I Remember You. This compilation is all the music featured in the 4th season, which is currently airing on Showtime. Besides 3 tracks from Queens of Dogtown, there’s tracks from Shooter Jennings & Hierophant, Eagles of Death Metal, Better Than Ezra, Monster Magnet & Adrian Young, Cracker, Warren Zevon and Tommy Lee. It’s a rock soundtrack basically. The songs work well in the show, and sound okay here. I liked some more than others. Californication fans that like & appreciate the music on the show should pick this soundtrack up.

Bottom Line: A decent compilation featuring the music from the 4th Season.
