VGS have now released 8 albums and show no signs of slowing down! This is their third album on Victory Records and I’m actually surprised to see them still on this label. I thought they were dropped by Victory but I guess they are back with them now? Whatever, as long as they have a place to release their music, I’ll be a happy dude.
Voodoo Glow Skulls were one of the very first ska/punk bands I got into back in the “Who Is, This Is” days. I still think “Insubordination” is my favorite VGS song. Now they have a brand new album and I’ll be honest, this is probably their best release since “The Band Geek Mafia.” I didn’t think the last few albums were up to par with VGS’s earlier stuff. But I’m glad they are back with their old selves and are making great, fast, aggressive ska/punk music again. The band has definitely grown over the years and you can tell in the lyrics and their sound. The only thing I haven’t really liked in the last few albums (including this one), is the chorus and how Frank shouts the word. It just starts to sound repetitive after awhile. But looking past this, VGS has released a great ska punk album that sounds similar to their earlier stuff. I’d recommend checking this album out!
Bottom Line: One of their best releases!
Notable Tracks: Exorcism, The Ballad of Froggy McNasty, Discombobulated, When The World Stops Turning
