Terribly geeky-squeaky vocals (think Atom & His Package getting his nuts crushed in a vice) almost overwhelm the excellent chamberpop indie. The album seems like a test for music critics: “We’re gonna write some absolutely brilliant tunes that’s like Arcade Fire meets Spiritualized, but replace the singer with Elmo from Sesame Street. NOW REVIEW!”

Man, it’s tough. Sometimes you can ignore the vocals, and sometimes, like on “Fluorescent Lights”, it bores like a rusty drill through your head. And this is coming from a Rush fan.

I’m going to hold onto this. For now, it’s good. In time, as the face of music changes and our tastes along with it, maybe it’ll be great.
